How we came about
Founded by James Oglethorpe in 1732, The Georgia colony was classified as one of the southern colonies. The Province of Georgia was an English colony in North America that lasted from 1732-1776. The colony being named after King George the second of England, The terms of the charter that was granted by George specified that the colony be named after him.
Brief history
Georgia Colony was the last of the 13 colonies. One of the southern colonies in British America, established by Great Britain in what later became the United States. The languages spoke was English, Mikasuki, Cherokee, Muscogee, Shawnee, and Yuchi and had a Constitutional Monarchy government. Located between what is now, South Carolina and Florida and had two main purposes: to serve as a place where debtors in prison could go to start with a fresh start and it served as a barrier against the Spanish Expansion from Florida.
